Prof. Dr. Harry Brumer

Dr. Harry Brumer is a Professor in the Michael Smith Laboratories and Department of Chemistry at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver. Prior to joining UBC in September of 2011, Dr. Brumer rose through the ranks as a faculty member in the Division of Glycoscience at the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) in Stockholm.

Dr. Brumer's research interests include the use of enzyme discovery to elucidate polysaccharide metabolism by plants and microbes, enzyme mechanism and engineering, and the practical application of carbohydrate-active enzymes in biomass utilisation, especially cellulose fibre functionalisation.
